Prediction of Wear Rates of UHMWPE Bearing in Hip Joint Prosthesis with Support Vector Model and Grey Wolf Optimization

Rania E. Hammam, Hani Attar, Ayman Amer, Mohanad Deif

Wireless Communications and Mobile Computing, 2022, Article ID 6548800

DOI

This study presents a hybrid regression model combining Support Vector Machine (SVM) and Grey Wolf Optimizer (GWO) to predict wear rates of ultrahigh molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) bearings in hip joint prostheses. The model utilizes data from pin-on-disc wear experiments and employs SHAP values for interpretability, identifying key factors influencing wear behavior.
